The controller is the core of Airun Plus. It has two function modes, INFO and EXER, that are
used to calculate and project fitness and exercise data.
The INFO mode is used to gather
personal information and calculate your current health and fitness based on
your Body Mass Index (BMI).
Your BMI
Your BMI figure is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. Fat is part of our body composition and can be an effective source of energy. However, too much body fat can lead to serious health conditions associated with conditions such as obesity, Diabetes, Heart Disease and strokes. Reducing our body fat through exercise and controlled weight loss is proven to significantly reduce these health risks. By calculating and regularly assessing your BMI you will have a reliable indication of body fatness without having to go to the expense of measuring it directly.
The user's height, weight, age and gender are input into the controller. This information is used to calculate the user's BMI. This figure can be viewed on the LCD screen.

This statistic is used to determine, the amount of calories the user needs to burn per day. This figure is known as the "Optimal Exercise Goal".
The Modes
When in the INFO mode, the controller requires the following data:
- Your weight
- Height
- Age
- Gender
- The weight of the insole – by letting the controller know what weight insole you’ve selected it can calculate you calorie burn figure accordingly as you will be burning more calories the heavier the weight.
The EXER mode is used to view a variety of statistics related to your current condition and performance. This mode is aimed at improving the knowledge of your current condition and to enhance your motivation and focus during exercise. The mode is separated in to two categories of information:
Category 1: Statistics related to your current health and fitness:
- BMI
- The recommended amount of calories to be burnt each day
- Your optimal recommended weight based on your BMI
Category 2: Real-time statistics based on your performance during exercise:
- Calories burned
- Percentage of recommended exercise achieved
- Paces taken
- Distance travelled
- Time spent exercising
The Sensor
Being your Personal Trainer, Airun
Plus needs to calculate and
measure a variety of different figures.
It does this with precision thanks to
its weight and speed measuring sensor.
The controller receives the real time information from the sensor by wifi. The sensor is positioned in the middle of the trainer safely inside the sole.
This sensor recognises the movement made when walking/ running and sends this information to the controller. A first in footwear technology, the sensor can measure the speed at which you are moving and the weight which is being put on the trainer as you walk. The controller’s microprocessor uses this data to calculate the information displayed in the EXER mode.
